Armenian Opposition Slams Azerbaijani Peace Talk Proposals

Armenia’s Opposition MPs Gegham Manukyan, Anna Grigoryan, Kristine Vardanyan, and Artur Khachatryan visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia. During their visit, they reviewed the Azerbaijani proposals that had been recently sent to Yerevan concerning the draft document circulated in the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace talks. Following their review, the MPs issued a joint statement regarding the matter.

“Without detailing the individual provisions of the document, we record that the Azerbaijani proposals and approaches do not in any way express the position of a country that wishes to establish a real, just, and lasting peace. We reaffirm that all the concerns and unease raised by us in the past remain in force, which not only do not disappear in any way but also deepen further,” the statement reads

Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyanrepresenting the ‘With Honour’ faction, asserts that Azerbaijan is making efforts to incorporate the November 9, 2020, trilateral statement involving the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan into negotiations with Armenia. According to Abrahamyan, Azerbaijan contends that the statement includes provisions for the establishment of a corridor to Nakhichevan through Armenia's Syunik Province.

In a post on social media, Tigran Abrahamyan, the secretary of the opposition faction, emphasized that Azerbaijan selectively disregarded the document and proceeded according to its own preferences, resorting to using force to address issues.

“Now Baku has brought up this document again in fresh efforts to snatch something from the Armenian authorities,” he wrote.

Previously, MP Tigran Abrahamyan highlighted that Azerbaijan intensified its propaganda efforts, specifically targeting Armenia.

“Azerbaijan has dramatically intensified its propaganda campaign, referring to various parts of Armenia, including Yerevan, as historical Azerbaijani lands. While the Armenian authorities are breaking down the institutions protecting Armenian statehood, Azerbaijan is becoming increasingly aggressive,” Abrahamyan added.
