Armenian Prime Minister Introduces New Economy Minister

On 7 March, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan introduced the newly appointed Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, to the ministry's staff. Pashinyan emphasised that economic growth is a multifaceted endeavour, encompassing various sectors such as education and science, but ultimately tangible through economic progress.

Acknowledging the departure of Vahan Kerobyan from the post of Economy Minister, Pashinyan expressed regret over the circumstances that led to the change. While refraining from going into the details of Kerobyan's dismissal, Pashinyan stressed the importance of maintaining the presumption of innocence and ensuring the objectivity of investigations. Despite the challenges, he reiterated the government's commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting state funds.

Pashinyan urged vigilance regarding fiscal integrity, emphasising the paramount importance of safeguarding state funds and complying with the legal framework. He stressed that while there are imperfections in day-to-day operations, it is unacceptable to interfere with state funds. He underlined the need for diligence and legality in financial matters, stressing that public confidence depends on responsible financial management.

Turning to the Ministry of Economy, Pashinyan underlined its key role in the government's overall vision. He emphasised the need to streamline bureaucratic processes and minimise unnecessary administrative burdens. While advocating efficiency, Pashinyan stressed the importance of maintaining essential state functions and facilitating public engagement with ministries.

In response, Gevorg Papoyan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in his new capacity and pledged his commitment to meeting the expectations of the people. He articulated a vision for economic revitalisation and emphasised the ministry's role in strengthening Armenia's position on the global stage. Papoyan called for proactive leadership in economic policy, advocating innovative approaches and forward-looking strategies to promote sustainable growth and enhance Armenia's standing in the international community. He encouraged his colleagues to embrace innovation and play an active role in shaping Armenia's economic future.
