Armenian Ruling Party: "No Need to Explain to Allies Issue of Civilian Mission by EU"

On February 13, Artur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the ruling Civil Contract Party, said they see no need to further explain to the allies the issue of sending a civilian observation mission to Armenia. According to Artur Hovhannisyan, there is no need to explain that the EU mission is not directed against third countries.
"After completing the two-month EU mission, Armenia, thanks to its diplomatic efforts, agreed with our European partners to send a second, longer-term mission to Armenia. This comes from the interests of Armenia," he said. Simultaneously, he assured that Yerevan is pursuing an active foreign policy in relations with European, Russian, and Iranian partners. "In this context, we proceed in the interests of our state," the MP stressed.
Hovhannisyan categorically disagreed with the opinion that with the appearance of European observers in the region, the confrontation between Russia and the West could move to the territory of Armenia. "The EU monitoring mission is a civilian mission; it is not directed against anyone. The mission will monitor and record the situation on the borders of Armenia. And I would ask you not to look for any geopolitical context here," he summed up.
