
Azerbaijan and China Make Strides in Economic Cooperation, Discuss Visa-Free Travel Agreement

On April 16, during the 10th meeting of the Azerbaijan-China Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation,
Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev highlighted investment opportunities in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories and announced progress in bilateral initiatives, including plans for a mutual visa-free travel agreement.
During the meeting, Shahin Mustafayev, the Co-Chair of the Commission, provided the Chinese delegation with comprehensive information on the modern infrastructure projects underway in the liberated territories and outlined their future economic potential. He invited Chinese companies to actively participate in the development of these areas, emphasizing the importance of international partnerships in the reconstruction process.
The sides noted the growing cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in sericulture development, particularly in the context of post-conflict restoration. As part of this collaboration, 130,000 mulberry seedlings have been delivered to Khojaly for cultivation, with expectations of significant results from the project.
Also on April 16, it was announced that a mutual visa-free travel agreement is expected to be signed during the upcoming visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to China. The agreement is anticipated to boost bilateral contacts and facilitate an increase in mutual visits, thereby strengthening overall relations between the two countries.
