Azerbaijan and Georgia Sign Military Cooperation Plan

On November 14, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, arrived on an official visit to Georgia at the invitation of the Minister of Defense of this country, Mr. Juansher Burchuladze, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported.

Meeting with the Georgian Minister of Defense

 An official welcoming ceremony was held at the Georgian Ministry of Defense.

The sides held a detailed exchange of views on regional security, prospects for developing military cooperation, conducting joint military exercises, and organizing working meetings.

At the meeting, the parties also discussed further expansion of cooperation in the military, military-technical, military-educational, and military-medical spheres and other issues of mutual interest.

In the end, a bilateral military cooperation plan between the Defense Ministries of both countries for 2023 was signed.

Meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia

On November 14, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan met with Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia.

First, Colonel General Hasanov, with the delegation, visited Heroes Square in the center of Tbilisi and laid a wreath at the monument to those who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Georgia.

Then the Minister of Defense met with the Prime Minister of Georgia.

At the meeting, it was noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are built on friendship and mutual trust. It was emphasized that the working visit of Ilham Aliyev to Georgia in October of this year was of particular importance and that regular meetings of the heads of state gave impetus to further strengthening relations between the two countries.

Regarding the military and political situation in the region, the parties emphasized the importance of mutual support for the countries' territorial integrity and the development of bilateral military cooperation that will contribute to ensuring stability and security in the region.
