On July 13, Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, received Yoav Gallant, the Minister of Defense of Israel.

They hailed the development of bilateral relations, including cooperation in the military-technical area. The sides noted the role of Israeli President Isaac Herzog's visit to Azerbaijan in developing bilateral ties. They also stressed the importance of opening the embassy of Azerbaijan in Israel in terms of expanding cooperation.

On the same day, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, met with a delegation led by Yoav Gallant.

First, the Israeli delegation visited the Alley of Shehids and laid flowers at the graves of the heroic sons of the Motherland and Azerbaijan National Hero Albert Agarunov, who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's independence and territorial integrity. A wreath was laid at the Eternal Flame monument.

Colonel General Hasanov greeted his Israeli counterpart and expressed satisfaction with seeing him in Azerbaijan. He emphasized that the high level of partnership between the two countries plays a significant role in the development of Azerbaijan and Israel and in ensuring security in the entire region.

Expressing satisfaction with his first visit to Azerbaijan as the Minister of Defense of Israel and a sincere meeting, Yoav Gallant stressed that Azerbaijani-Israeli relations are based on friendship and mutual trust. The Israeli minister highlighted the necessity for such meetings and mutual visits to further the development of military cooperation.

The importance of further strengthening strategic relations and expanding security ties was emphasized. The meeting discussed prospects for developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel in the military and military-technical spheres and several issues of mutual interest.

Notably, there were rumors that the recent planned terrorist attack by Afghan citizens in Baku was against the Israeli Embassy, and Iran financed it. Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen also talked about this issue. "Iran is behind the terrorist attack on the Israeli Embassy in Azerbaijan," he said. During his official visit to Serbia, the Israeli Foreign Minister made a statement that Tehran was responsible for the attempted terrorist attack. According to Eli Cohen, the terrorist captured in Azerbaijan was financed by and received instructions from Iran. "Iranian terrorism is a global threat, as we have seen in the last few days in the attempted attack on the Israeli embassy in Baku in Azerbaijan, as well as in recent months in the attempted attacks against Israelis and Jews in Cyprus and Greece," Cohen said.
