Azerbaijan and Ukraine Pledge to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

Conversation between Ilham Aliyev and Volodymyr Zelenskyy

On May 21, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

During the conversation, the heads of state discussed bilateral cooperation in regional security, energy, trade, and other fields. They noted that relevant instructions would be given regarding the implementation of cooperation projects between the respective institutions of both countries.

Conversation between Jeyhun Bayramov and the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan

On the same day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Yuriy Husyev, the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan. The meeting focused on the current cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Ukraine and regional security issues. 

Minister Bayramov congratulated Ambassador Husyev on his appointment and wished him success in his new role. The parties agreed to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries in various sectors, including economy, trade, energy security, transport and communications, and humanitarian efforts. They expressed satisfaction with the progress in these areas.

Minister Bayramov also discussed preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which Azerbaijan is chairing. He highlighted that COP29 could enhance bilateral relations by including climate change issues in the cooperation agenda.

Ambassador Husyev expressed gratitude for the warm reception and affirmed his commitment to further developing relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine. He thanked Azerbaijan for its continuous support of Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as for the humanitarian aid provided in response to the situation in Ukraine.
