On December 17, the humanitarian aid convoy sent by Azerbaijan to restore the stable supply of electricity to the affected areas of Ukraine, consisting of basic electrical equipment, arrived in Ukraine.

On the same day, a handover ceremony of the humanitarian aid convoy was held in Chernivtsi, Ukraine's border area with Romania.

At the event, Sabir Rzayev, Azerbaijan's Chargé d'affaires in Ukraine, said that the humanitarian aid includes 45 power transformers and 50 generators. "The first part of them is already on Ukrainian territory. To fully deliver the humanitarian cargo, the total amount of which is approximately 1 million, 422 thousand manats, it is planned to leave the second truck convoy in the next few days," he added. Sabir Rzayev said that the total amount of humanitarian aid provided by the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the crisis in Ukraine is close to EUR 16.6 million.

Petro Lutsiv, the head of the Humanitarian Aid Center under the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, noted that the power transformers and generators sent by Azerbaijan would be used to restore energy supply in the cities of Mykolaiv, Sumy, Boradyanka, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhia.

Earlier, on December 15, Caucasus Watch reported that an anonymous source from the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the transfer of transformers and generators by Azerbaijan to Ukraine as humanitarian aid caused bewilderment in Russia. "Azerbaijani deliveries, which are unlikely to change the situation fundamentally, do not amount to humanitarian aid," the source added.
