On December 19, Mikhail Aleksandrov, a citizen of the Russian Federation, was put on the international wanted list by Azerbaijan, the Press Service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan reported.

"In an attempt to undermine relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, he openly called for firing with rockets and completely destroying the entire oil industry and energy system of Azerbaijan," the information added. "The Prosecutor General initiated a criminal case against Mikhail Aleksandrov under Articles 101.2 (open calls to unleash an aggressive war through the media), 214.2.3 (threats to commit terrorist acts with the use of firearms), and 283.2.1, 283.2.2 (incitement of national hatred or enmity using one's official position) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan," the statement said.

The preliminary investigation has been entrusted to the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan. "Given sufficient evidence, a decision was made against Mikhail Aleksandrov to bring him on trial under the indicated articles of the Criminal Code [of Azerbaijan]. By a court decision, he was put on the international wanted list through the channels of Interpol. With the selection of a preventive measure in the form of an arrest against him," the government body reported.

They also indicated that requests were sent to the competent authorities of several partner states to ensure the extradition of the accused if he entered the territory of these countries. "Currently, intensive investigative measures are ongoing. The General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan declares that the measures provided for by law will be taken in connection with any provocative activity directed against the national interests, security, and territorial integrity of our country," noted in the statement.

Moreover, Mikhail Aleksandrov was fired from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.

"Last Friday, on the air of one of the TV channels, M. Aleksandrov, who held the position of a leading expert (0.5 rank) at the Center for Military-Political Studies of the University, made statements that were detrimental to the allied relations between Russia and Azerbaijan and grossly distorted the goals and objectives of Russian policy against a neighboring friendly state. The groundless aggressiveness and flagrant unprofessionalism of Alexandrov's statements caused an extremely harsh negative reaction from the foreign policy community and the indignation of the MGIMO team. The image and interests of the university were seriously damaged. Based on the incompatibility of Aleksandrov’s actions with the status of an MGIMO employee, as well as the facts of extreme neglect of official duties on the part of Aleksandrov, the Rector signed an order to terminate labor relations and dismiss M. Aleksandrov from the university," said the administration of the Moscow university.

Notably, on December 13, Mikhail Aleksandrov, a leading expert at the Military-Political Research Center of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, said in various mass media that Russia would deal with Azerbaijan and resolve the issue after solving the issue related to the 1000-kilometer front in Ukraine. "For now, Russia is working with Azerbaijan through diplomatic channels. The Russian leadership will not forget the fact that its authorities act on the proposals of Turkey and the United States and create serious threats to Russia. After the Russian Armed Forces solve the Ukraine issue, they will open their arms; they will not be so restrained. After that, the conversation with Azerbaijan will take place in a slightly different context," he added.
