Azerbaijani and UK Foreign Ministers Discuss Israel-Iran Confrontation
On June 17, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, and David Lammy, the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, held a phone conversation to discuss bilateral relations, regional tensions following the Israel-Iran confrontation, and the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process.
During the call, David Lammy extended his congratulations on the occasion of Azerbaijan’s National Salvation Day and expressed gratitude for the congratulatory message sent on the United Kingdom’s national holiday, the King’s Birthday. He also thanked Azerbaijan for President Ilham Aliyev’s letter of condolence following the deadly crash of an Air India passenger aircraft near Ahmedabad, which resulted in the deaths of British citizens.
In response, Jeyhun Bayramov conveyed his appreciation for Lammy’s congratulations and extended his own condolences regarding the air crash tragedy. Both ministers voiced serious concern over the deteriorating security situation in the region due to the Israel-Iran conflict and emphasized the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement to avert further escalation. Additionally, the two sides exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
