Azerbaijani Economy Minister Meets Russian and US Delegations in Baku

Meeting with the Russian delegation

During the meeting held in Baku on April 3, Mikayil Jabbarov, the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, and Ruslan Edelgeriev, the Advisor to the President of Russia, discussed the diversification of the economic partnership between the two countries and the development of interregional ties, the Press Office of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan reported.

Minister Jabbarov emphasized the positive dynamics in the development of relations with Russia and noted the importance of intensifying the partnership of business circles in strengthening trade and investment ties. According to him, the favorable business and investment environment in Azerbaijan and the vast potential of the Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation open up new prospects for developing regional cooperation, including the partnership with the Russian Federation. The head of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy indicated that Russian investors could also take advantage of the transport and logistics opportunities of the Alat free economic zone, located at the intersection of international corridors. "Jabbarov, emphasizing the special role of increasing the efficiency of transport links to increase bilateral trade, drew attention to the importance of using the resources of the North-South transport route," the Ministry informed.

Edelgeriev, in turn, stressed that Russia attaches particular importance to a partnership with Azerbaijan, noted the role of increasing the activity of the private sector in effective mutually beneficial development, and shared his vision of realizing the economic potential.

"The parties also discussed the issues of diversifying economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, the work necessary to maintain dynamics in the volume of mutual trade, the development of interregional relations, as well as ties in the field of tourism and other industries," the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan noted.

Meeting with the US delegation

On April 4, during the meeting between Elnur Aliyev, the Deputy Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, and Arun Venkataraman, the US Assistant Secretary of Commerce, they discussed trade issues between the USA and Azerbaijan, the Press Office of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan reported.

Venkataraman discussed US-Azerbaijan trade and investment relations and expressed the interest of US companies' interest in partnering with Azerbaijan in equipment and services at a time when renewable energy technologies are integrated into the global economy.

The directions of cooperation in expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States, energy diversification, transfer of technologies, logistics, green energy, and digital economy were discussed.

First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev touched upon the importance of organizing the US-Azerbaijan "Green" Energy Forum in Baku to increase the volume of investments between the two countries and apply US experience in the field of renewable energy. The Deputy Minister said that Azerbaijan has successfully cooperated with the United States in the energy field. "Nevertheless, in terms of diversification of economic and trade relations, there is great potential, especially in agriculture, logistics, know-how, etc.," he noted.

The transit importance of the country for the USA was emphasized at the meeting, and the importance of joint efforts to further expand the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) was noted.

"The US has invested more than 18 billion dollars in the economy of Azerbaijan. The US-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce is an effective mechanism for developing investment cooperation and establishing bilateral business relations. The trade mission planned to be organized in the United States this year will also serve to deepen relations between business entities," the Deputy Minister stated.
