Azerbaijani FM Addresses Challenges in Azerbaijan-Armenia Peace Negotiations

During the 30th OSCE Ministerial Conference in Skopje on November 30, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that Baku firmly believes in the historical possibility of peaceful coexistence between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

"Despite the non-healing wounds, it was Azerbaijan that initiated the process of normalization of interstate relations with Armenia," Bayramov reminded. According to him, a continuation of geopolitical intrigues initiated by other (external) actors is ineffective and serves only to postpone the peace process. The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister did not specify which external forces he was referring to.

"Baku is firmly committed to peace, although the process is being delayed," Bayramov said, complaining that it took Armenia more than two and a half months to finally submit its comments on the draft (peace) agreement. "Biased and unilateral actions of some parties seriously affect the process," Bayramov said, again without clarifying who he was referring to, expressing confidence that Azerbaijan and Armenia have a historical opportunity to establish good relations and coexist peacefully as two states.

"The time has come to seize this opportunity. Armenia should realize that the path to peace lies through bilateral dialogue and normal relations with its neighbors," he concluded.

Meeting with the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation

On November 30, Jeyhun Bayramov met with Ignazio Cassis, the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, within the framework of the 30th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.

The meeting discussed prospects for expanding cooperation between the two countries and the regional situation. The minister emphasized that there is no alternative to peace in the region. During the meeting, the two countries exchanged views on other topical and regional issues of mutual interest.

Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary

On the same day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan met with Peter Szijjártó, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed satisfaction with the level of development of bilateral and multilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Hungary and emphasized the importance of mutual contacts and visits in discussing prospects and expanding the cooperation agenda.

"Hungary's constant support to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country, especially within the framework of international organizations, was gratefully remembered," the report noted.

Between the two countries, there are various, including economic, trade, energy security, investments, connections, etc. The development of cooperation in fields and the importance of the successful implementation of joint projects were also noted.

Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden

On November 30, Jeyhun Bayramov met with Tobias Billström, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, within the framework of the 30th meeting of the OSCE Council of Ministers.

During the meeting, bilateral and multilateral cooperation relations between Azerbaijan and Sweden and regional issues were exchanged.

"At the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed us about the factors that determine the anti-terrorist measures implemented by our country within 24 hours, especially the threats arising from the Armenian armed forces that have not been withdrawn from the territories of Azerbaijan in violation of the obligations, the current regional situation and Azerbaijan's plans to ensure peace and stability in the region," the report noted.

"Despite Azerbaijan's promotion of the continuous peace agenda for the normalization of relations with Armenia, it was stated that the consistent smear campaign by Armenia against our country does not serve peace," the statement reads.

Meeting with the NATO Secretary General's special representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia

On the same day, Jeyhun Bayramov met with Javier Colomina, the Special Representative of the NATO Secretary General for the Caucasus and Central Asia.

The meeting discussed current issues of the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and NATO, regional and international issues, and the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process and negotiation prospects.

During the meeting, the importance of conducting regular political dialogue and developing practical cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO as a partner and contributor to peace and security in the region and beyond its borders was noted.

Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal

On November 30, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan met with João Gomes Cravinho, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Portugal, as part of his business trip to North Macedonia.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on new perspectives of cooperation on bilateral and multilateral platforms, the regional situation, and the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. During the meeting, the parties emphasized that they attach great importance to Azerbaijan-Portugal relations. In this regard, the importance of political dialogue, including mutual visits, was noted.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov invited Portuguese companies to participate in renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan.

Meeting with the Minister of State for the Armed Forces at the Ministry of Defense of the United Kingdom

On November 30, Jeyhun Bayramov met with James Heappey, the Minister of State for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom, within the framework of the 30th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council.

The meeting discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Kingdom. Development prospects of cooperation in political, economic, energy security, mutual investments, and other fields between the countries and the current regional situation were the main topics of discussion.

"During the meeting, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the post-conflict normalization agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The obstacles created by Armenia in the process of signing the peace agreement and the steps taken by Azerbaijan to advance this process were discussed," the report noted.
