Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry: "Attack on Azerbaijani Embassy is Organized Terrorism"
At a briefing for journalists on February 6, Aykhan Hajizada, the head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, said that during the attack on the embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran, the Iranian police did not take any steps to neutralize the terrorist.
"When the terrorist, armed with a submachine gun, a pistol, and a Molotov cocktail, saw that his attempt was not successful, he tried to achieve his goal by shooting at the windows of the apartments on the floor of the building where the family members of the embassy staff are located. Then he tried to set fire to the car of our embassy. Later, an unknown person from the car used by the terrorist took various things and left. All these factors once again prove that the incident was a deliberate terrorist act," he added.
According to him, the person who attacked the embassy tried to set fire to the representative's vehicle. "Next time, the terrorist took advantage of the fact that the police did not intervene in the incident and tried to set fire to the vehicle belonging to our representative office standing in front of our embassy by taking the Molotov cocktail-type incendiary substance that he had brought with him from his car. At that time, the police immediately intervened on the terrorist who carelessly used himself," Hajizada said.
Aykhan Hajizada said that Iran was requested to punish the incident's perpetrators. "Allegations have been made that the terrorist is mentally ill. Observations show that this person is not mentally ill at all. The fact that he gave an interview to the state channels right after the terrorist attack proves it," the diplomat emphasized.
Later, in the briefing, a video was shown about the details of the attack on the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran.
