Azerbaijani MPs Comment on Mirzoyan's Visit to Turkey, Possible Launch of Russian Consulate in Azerbaijan, and Nakhchivan Former Head
"There is no reason to worry about the rapprochement between Turkey and Armenia"
Siyavush Novruzov, the chairman of the Regional Affairs Committee of the Azerbaijani Parliament, said: "There is no reason to worry about the rapprochement between Turkey and Armenia. Turkey is our friend and brotherly state. We are one nation, two states. We have witnessed this in all times that Turkey has not retreated from the interests of Azerbaijan in the slightest."
"The main reason for the closure of the borders between Armenia and Turkey was Armenia's occupation of Azerbaijan's territories. There was such a question as to how long Armenia will occupy Azerbaijan's territories. Until then, there will be no connection with the land border between Armenia and Turkey. In 2008, part of the goods brought to the brotherly country by land from some countries had to pass through Armenia. In this regard, there was a need to open the border, and the border was opened. On the other hand, Armenia's condolences to Turkey, and at the same time sending a group of rescuers, was evaluated as a sign that he wanted to throw," he added.
The MP also mentioned the earthquake in Spitak in 1988: "I remembered that both Turkey and Azerbaijan sent aid to Armenia during the Spitak earthquake. However, it is known what happened to both planes - they crashed in the air because they were not given a runway. At the same time, I think that during the peace negotiations, such issues can give impetus to the achievement of peace, perhaps in some form. Armenia's relations with many countries have already worsened. Armenia is accused by CSTO and others. In such a case, Armenia is looking for ways out," Novruzov emphasized.
"The opening of the Consulate General of Russia in Azerbaijan is not a sudden decision"
Mushfiq Jafarov, a member of the Azerbaijani Parliament, commented on the proposal of Valentina Matviyenko, the chairman of the Russian Federation Council, regarding the opening of the Consulate General of Russia in Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijan is ready to expand mutual relations with all states within national interests and international rights framework. The opening of the Consulate General of Russia in Azerbaijan is, of course, not a sudden decision. A final decision can be taken after extensive discussions in intergovernmental committees. Russia is one of the giants of the world. Apparently, the predictions about the weakening of Moscow did not come true either. Currently, the imposition of several sanctions against the neighboring country by the international organizations did not have such a devastating effect on the Russian economy," he added.
The MP emphasized that centuries-old traditions of friendship connect Russia and Azerbaijan, shared history and culture, and the fate of millions of people who are intertwined: "Today, relations have been brought to the level of strategic partnership. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, more than 200 bilateral documents on friendship, cooperation, and security have been signed, and relations have been further strengthened. Even now, there are mutual relations between the two countries that meet national interests and serve international and regional security. Azerbaijan is Russia's main trading partner among the CIS countries, and we would not be mistaken."
"Maybe there is a street in Dubai named after Vasif Talibov's boys"
MP Etibar Aliyev wrote on the social network: "A Pakistani millionaire brother donated 30 million dollars in aid to the earthquake in Turkey. According to what was written, he did not say who and what. Charity in the West and America is true generosity, an example to humanity."
"Vasif Talibov-type [the former chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR)] moral owners embezzle state billions and give charity to their sons. Perhaps there is even a street in Dubai named after his sons. Switzerland's expensive watch brands have come out of the crisis at the expense of Talibov's sons. I wonder if we will ever witness that one of the Azerbaijani billionaires will build a school or a kindergarten and give it to children, spend money on the education of talented young people, or demonstrate the behavior of a Pakistani millionaire," the MP stated.
"Among our millionaires, there are those who founded schools, but they did it only to enrich their children. They provide very expensive education to our citizens in the schools they created at the expense of our grandfather's money," Aliyev concluded.
