Azerbaijani MPs on Russian Peacekeepers in Karabakh

"Russian peacekeepers create conditions for illegal weapons transportation, allow Iranian citizens to our territory"

At the meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Siyavush Novruzov, the chairman of the Parliament's Regional Affairs Committee, said, "Azerbaijani ecologists have been protesting against the damage done to our ecology on the soil of Azerbaijan for several days."

The MP said that the Russian peacekeepers join forces with the Armenians there and create conditions for the illegal transportation of weapons, and illegally allow Iranian citizens into Azerbaijanès territories: "The protesters object to this, and we support it. Our young people mainly participate in these processes. Azerbaijani youth do not forget anything. Today, the youth of Azerbaijan love their Motherland more than the older generation. Each of our youth received patriotism lessons during the era of President Ilham Aliyev. We feel proud that we have such young people. A state with such young people and such a Commander-in-Chief always deserves victory."

"Deputies should participate in the actions held on the Shusha-Khankendi Road"

Rashad Mahmudov, the Deputy Chairman of the Parliament's Health Committee, said that MPs should also participate in the protest held on the Shusha-Khankendi [Stepanakert in Armenian] road.

The MP said that the deputies should be direct with the action participants: "I think that the deputies should be with the participants of the action. This would be an important step for sending a message to the world."

"Premature termination of the mission of Russian peacekeepers should be demanded"

MP Razi Nurullayev said, "The action of Azerbaijani civil society representatives on the Shusha-Khankendi road is actually a delayed step. Until today, our country showed tolerance and took humanitarian factors into account, while Armenia and its separatists used this road for military and looting purposes. As if 30 years were not enough, even now they are causing an environmental disaster in the areas under the temporary control of Russian peacekeepers."

The MP said that this action was carried out on the initiative of civil society representatives and environmental activists and had an effect: "First, our border guards and customs post should be placed on the road connecting Khankendi with Armenia. If Armenia does not give a corridor to Azerbaijanis going to Nakhchivan, why should we allow Armenians coming from Armenia to pass by waving their arms? Secondly, Ruben Vardanyan, a Russian billionaire of Armenian origin, who supports separatism and is located in Karabakh as a project, should be rejected and leave our lands. Among the demands should be the issue of conducting an operation in Khankendi [Stepanakert in Armenian] to arrest Arayik Harutyunyan, the bandit leader of the separatists, who is wanted internationally, and many criminal cases have been opened against him."

"Thirdly, uncompromising demands should be put forward for the complete severance of political and military relations of the nest of separatism with Armenia. As stated by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Azerbaijan not only can but must take on the humanitarian needs of our citizens of Armenian origin living in the nest of separatism. Fourthly, a demand should be made for the premature termination of the mission of Russian peacekeepers. As long as they remain in Karabakh, Armenian separatists will take advantage of this issue for their dirty purposes. The stay of Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh is a direct obstacle to the peace process. Fifth, the number of peaceful protesters can increase many times, and everything can be expected from the separatists. Units of our national army, police, and military equipment must ensure their safety," he added.
