China Reaffirms Support for Georgia's Territorial Integrity

On January 16, Irakli Kobakhidze, the chairman of the Georgian Dream, emphasized the importance of deepening relations between the two countries. In a meeting with Xiao Jie, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National People's Congress, Kobakhidze highlighted China's support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty while expressing reciprocal support for the principle of a united China. The Chairman underscored the need further to enhance the existing economic cooperation between the two nations.

During their discussions, Kobakhidze emphasized the significance of political, economic, and cultural cooperation between China and Georgia. He noted the support received from China regarding Georgia's territorial integrity and stressed the importance of reinforcing these relations between the authorities and ruling parties. Kobakhidze also highlighted the potential for further development in trade and economic relations, expressing the commitment of the Georgian delegation to make efforts in this regard.

Moreover, Nikoloz Samkharadze, a member of the delegation and Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament, echoed the sentiments, stating that China has expressed a firm and unwavering position on Georgia's territorial integrity in various meetings. He emphasized the importance of China's support in the face of challenges related to the recognition of territorial integrity and non-recognition of independence in occupied territories. Samkharadze also highlighted the significance of trade and economic relations between the two nations, including the utilization of the existing free trade agreement and the development of trade routes, especially the Middle Corridor.

In addition to political and economic cooperation, discussions encompassed cultural aspects, including the exchange of creative groups, language teaching initiatives in universities, and other areas of cultural collaboration between China and Georgia. The Georgian delegation expressed eagerness to maximize the potential of the Chinese market for Georgian products and strengthen the economic ties for mutual benefit.
