
Counteraction to the pandemic is ineffective in four regions of the North Caucasus

The government stated that the organisation of efforts to counteract the new wave of the pandemic is ineffective in eight Russian regions, half of which are the North Caucasian republics - Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia, Karachay-Cherkessia and Dagestan. This was announced at a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordination Council under the Russian government.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Russia additionally gave 794 million dollars to medical institutions and instructed the regional authorities to ensure vaccination and testing on non-working days.
To date, 268 thousand patients with COVID-19 have been hospitalised in Russia, and in total there are more than one million three hundred thousand people infected and receiving medical care.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin recommended that regional leaders close restaurants and entertainment establishments at night (from 23.00 to 6 a.m.).
Russian President Vladimir Putin declared non-working days from October 30 to November 7 inclusive. This is an attempt to interrupt the chains of transmission of the virus among the population.
In Russia, isolated cases of a new type of delta strain of coronavirus AY.4.2 have been identified.
