Dagestan to Issue Passports to Palestinian Refugees

During a meeting of the operational headquarters on December 11, Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov, the Chairman of the government of Dagestan, stated that Palestinians in Dagestan will be issued passports and other identification documents soon. He recalled that 154 residents of Palestine have arrived in the federal republic to date, including 82 refugees - under 18 years old, they are accommodated on the territory of one of the seaside recreation centers.

"The total number of persons of working age is 70 people. All have been examined by medics, they are provided with necessities. A psychologist works permanently in the temporary accommodation point, but, as colleagues report, the condition and mood of the arrived citizens, the environment created around them are positive," the prime minister said. Also, Abdulmuslimov noted that the necessary work is being carried out with the citizens to determine their legal status on the territory of Russia and the possibility of issuing domestic and foreign passports.

Moreover, Deputy Prime Minister Ramazan Jafarov reported to Abdulmuslimov that two Palestinians would become students of the Dagestan Medical College of the Dagestan State Medical University. He also said that the Ministry of Labor of the [Federal] Republic of Dagestan, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Dagestan and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Dagestan, is taking measures to provide employment and education for the arriving citizens.

To study the Russian language for the children who arrived, the Ministry of Education and Science of Dagestan organized training in four groups on the territory of the temporary accommodation point. "After studying the Russian language for six months, the children will be assigned to school and kindergarten. Two minibusses have been allocated for the transportation of children," Jafarov reported.
