De-facto President of Separatist Abkhazia Asks Russian Prime Minister to Open Airport in Sokhumi

On May 3, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin visited the stand of separatist Abkhazia as part of the Caucasian Investment Exhibition in Mineralnye Vody, Stavropol Krai, Russia.
Aslan Bzhania, the de-facto President of the separatist Abkhazia, and Mikhail Mishustin touched upon the issues of projects planned for implementation in Abkhazia - in the field of gasification and tourism. Watching the presentation video, Mishustin drew attention to the Sokhumi airport.
"We expect the airport will be launched with your support," Bzhania addressed Mishustin.
Bzhania also invited Mishustin to visit the separatist Abkhazia.
As previously reported by Caucasus Watch, on April 27, Aslan Bzhania, the de-facto President of separatist Abkhazia, met with the heads of cities and regions on the work results for the first quarter of 2023. "The road infrastructure needs significant investments, the railway does not operate in the mode and format in which it could because money needs to be invested in it, and the port economy needs to be developed. We are dealing with the airport, and everything is not easy, and these are the key issues," Bzhania said.
