On August 21, Anitta Hipper, the EU Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated that the European Union was placing strong emphasis on transport routes to enhance regional integration and was awaiting further details on the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP), formerly known as the Zangezur Corridor. Hipper noted that following the meeting in Washington DC, Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, had spoken with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, offering the EU’s support and expertise for the implementation of agreements, including those related to connectivity. She emphasized that the EU would continue its discussions with Baku and Yerevan to explore new areas of cooperation and assist in the normalization process between the two countries.

According to Hipper, the EU had long supported the Middle Corridor, linking Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia. "The European Union reaffirms its commitment to the development of infrastructure and transport projects in the South Caucasus in the context of the latest agreements between Armenia and Azerbaijan," she stated. She underlined that strengthening security and connectivity remained a priority of the EU’s new Black Sea Strategy, unveiled in late May 2025, which aimed to expand links and stimulate growth by connecting Europe with the South Caucasus and Central Asia. "In recent months, the EU has reaffirmed its commitment to unlocking the immense potential for cross-border cooperation in the region and beyond. Improving security and regional connectivity are key priorities of the EU strategic approach to the Black Sea region," Hipper added.

Hipper further emphasized that in cooperation with regional partners, the EU would advance the Connectivity Agenda, building on expanded Trans-European networks. She highlighted that the EU was already engaged in regional connectivity projects through the Global Gateway initiative and investments under the Neighbourhood Investment Platform for the Eastern Partnership. "The EU is ready to explore and mobilise further support for both large-scale infrastructure investments and soft connectivity measures through the Global Gateway and the Connectivity Agenda," she stated.
