Georgia and Serbia Sign Agreement on Air Traffic
On June 17, Maka Botchorishvili, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, met with Jagoda Lazarević, the Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade of Serbia, who was visiting Tbilisi for the inauguration of direct air services between the Georgian and Serbian capitals.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed key areas of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, highlighting the signing of the Agreement on Air Traffic as a major advancement. It was emphasized that the launch of direct flights between Tbilisi and Belgrade would help deepen business relations, increase passenger traffic, foster new tourist routes, and strengthen people-to-people ties.
Special attention was given to the potential for sharing experiences in trade, tourism, and information technologies, as well as promoting cooperation between government agencies and business communities. The sides also addressed the possibility of convening the second session of the Intergovernmental Economic Commission between Georgia and Serbia.
The meeting welcomed Serbia’s decision to open an embassy in Tbilisi, viewing it as a step that would further consolidate friendly relations. The officials additionally exchanged views on European integration prospects and regional security challenges.
