Georgia and the UN Sign 2026–2030 Sustainable Development Framework
On December 9, Georgia and the United Nations signed a new UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2026–2030. The signing ceremony took place at the Ceremonial Palace of Georgia in Tbilisi’s Avlabari district, attended by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Opening the event, Kobakhidze stated that the renewed five-year framework establishes the basis for future cooperation, is founded on Georgia’s national priorities, and reflects the spirit of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. He emphasized that its main directions align with the country’s aims to reduce disparities between urban and regional areas, advance decentralized governance, strengthen human rights protections, and support inclusive social and educational systems.
Kobakhidze noted that the world continues to face substantial challenges and stressed that, despite global economic and geopolitical difficulties, Georgia has evolved from being solely a recipient of assistance into a reliable and exemplary partner. He attributed this shift to steady reforms and peace-oriented policies. He stated that the key to this progress is the government’s commitment to preserving a peaceful and predictable internal environment, which he described as the fundamental basis for economic advancement.
