Georgian Dream Leader Warns of 'Ukrainization' Threat If Opposition Wins

| News, Politics, Georgia

On January 24, Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party, accused the opposition of panic, pointing to their constant discussions about Bidzina Ivanishvili. According to Kobakhidze, the return of Ivanishvili has created despair among the opposition, leading them to express fear and talk about Ivanishvili from morning to evening.

Kobakhidze recalled historical instances where Ivanishvili's political entry resulted in significant changes. In 2011, Ivanishvili entered politics, and within a year, he managed to change the authoritarian government, establishing a different system. In 2018, after a brief absence from politics, Ivanishvili returned, leading Georgian Dream to a convincing victory in the 2020 elections.

The Georgian Dream leader argued that Ivanishvili's return only signifies the further strengthening of the ruling party. He suggested that the opposition's emotional reactions and constant discussions about Ivanishvili reflect their panic and fear of the political implications of his involvement.

Moreover, Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party, warned against the potential consequences of the opposition "United National Movement" winning elections in Georgia. Kobakhidze suggested that if the National Movement came to power, the country would experience "Ukrainization," alluding to the situation in Ukraine.

Kobakhidze urged the society to reconsider its choices, claiming that the National Movement's victory would lead to a situation similar to the current developments in Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of opting for peace and economic development rather than supporting what he referred to as the "War Party."
