
Georgian Parliamentary Delegation Visited Azerbaijan

The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, paid an official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan on 15-16 May, where he met with President Ilham Aliyev.
According to the press service of the Georgian parliament, at the meeting the parties discussed the dynamics of relations between the two countries and focused on "fruitful cooperation" in energy, transport, trade and other areas. The so-called trade for the energy security of the two countries and Europe. The growing importance of the Middle Corridor was underlined.
The two sides also reviewed the current events in the region and expressed their readiness to continue working together to promote regional peace, prosperity and stability. The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia thanked Ilham Aliyev for his strong support for the territorial integrity of Georgia and his personal contribution to the deepening of the strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan.
During his visit to Azerbaijan, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia also met with the Prime Minister of the neighbouring country, Ali Asadov, and the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova. Shalva Papuashvili also attended the special session of the Milli Mejlis dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of former Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev.
