During his visit to Davos within the framework of the ongoing World Economic Forum, the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili met the European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn.

According to the report of the Georgian government administration on January 19, at the meeting, the parties discussed the dynamics of the implementation of EU recommendations, the significant progress achieved by Georgia on the road to European integration, and the main directions of the cooperation agenda between Georgia and the European Union.

They emphasized the high level of political dialogue between the European Union and Georgia. The parties also discussed the security environment and challenges in the region and the world, during which Garibashvili noted that Georgia is a reliable partner and ally of the European Union in the region. The Georgian leader thanked Johannes Hahn for his steadfast support of Georgia's European integration.

The PM also met with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, during his visit to Davos within the framework of the World Economic Forum. According to the information of the administration of the Government of Georgia, the parties discussed the main directions of existing cooperation between Georgia and the Republic of Serbia and prospects for deepening cooperation. They focused on the issues of European integration.

"At the meeting, the security environment and challenges in the region and the world were also discussed," the press release of the administration said, according to which "the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic of Serbia reaffirmed their support for the territorial integrity of the two countries."

The Georgian PM also took part in the panel discussion held within the framework of the Davos Economic Forum – "How the Middle Corridor of Eurasia turned from a path to a highway" – where he raised the issue of the Anaklia port.

According to Garibashvili, this project should be implemented to increase the capacity of Georgia, and the government is negotiating with many potential investors in this direction. "President Aliyev argued that there is a growing potential in the ports of Azerbaijan, that Kazakhstan also has the same growth potential, and Georgia can transport 550 thousand tons in Poti and 200 thousand in Batumi – this is not enough, however. I want to implement this project to increase the possibilities," said Garibashvili.

As Garibashvili said, the ongoing war in Ukraine is catastrophic for the entire region. "It affects us too, and I think this war showed us that countries and nations should diversify their economies. Before the war, countries paid less attention to the Middle Corridor, but after the war, attention intensified and increased. Therefore, as President Aliyev ordered, I will also repeat that we have excellent relations with Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkey. We have a strategic partnership, and our merger is very good. We are currently investing heavily in infrastructure. I would like to mention that our highways, which are under construction, should be completed by the end of 2024. 2.3 billion dollars have been invested in constructing this road infrastructure, which will help the transportation direction. I would also like to mention the port infrastructure. Georgia's ports on the Black Sea are quite large, but we need to increase the capacity," argued the PM.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn, and Chairwoman at Limak Group of Companies Ebru Özdemir participated in the panel discussion with Irakli Garibashvili. The panel was moderated by Mirek Dušek, Executive Director of the World Economic Forum.
