Georgian PM meets Armenian counterpart after Azerbaijani leader
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has visited Armenia several days after his visit to Azerbaijan, on 10 October.
Garibashvili met his Armenian counterpart Nikol Pashinyan in the Armenian capital Yerevan. The sides discussed the "South Caucasus neighbourhood peace initiative.”
"It was noted that the new peace format will facilitate discussions of the prospects for the good-neighbourly initiative with the involvement of international partners together with the South Caucasus states. At the meeting, the Georgian prime minister confirmed once again Georgia's readiness to continue playing the role of active mediator to ensure peace and stability and gradually transform the region into a region of new opportunities, development, and peace," the administration of the Georgian government flagged.
Garibashvili and Pashinyan met in Tbilisi a month ago.
On 29 September, Garibashvili paid an official visit to Baku.
Garibashvili also mediated a deal between Armenia and Azerbaijan several months ago, when Azerbaijan released 15 Armenian citizens held captive in Baku and Armenia handed over maps of minefields in Karabakh in exchange.
