According to preliminary statistics released by the National Statistics Office (Geostat) on November 19, Georgia's international trade turnover climbed by 23% in January-October 2021 compared to the same period last year, hitting 11.35 billion USD.

Exports climbed by 24.9% to 3.39 billion USD year over year, while imports jumped by 22.3% to 7.96 billion USD. Meanwhile, the trade deficit in January-October 2021 was 4.57 billion USD, accounting for 40.2% of total trade turnover.

Turkey topped the list of Georgia's main commercial partners by turnover, with USD 1.68 billion, followed by 1.29 billion USD, 1.23 billion USD, 892.1 million USD, and 643.7 million USD from Russia, China, Azerbaijan and USA.

With 520.6 million USD in exports, China was Georgia's most important commercial partner, followed by Russia with 481.8 million USD, Azerbaijan with 443.4 million USD, Turkey with 260.1 million USD, and Ukraine with 245.3 million USD.

In terms of imports, Turkey, Russia, China, the United States, and Azerbaijan were Georgia's major commercial partners, with 1.4 billion USD, 812.2 million USD, 705.2 million USD, 492.5 million USD, and 448.7 million USD, respectively.

Copper ores and concentrates were on top of the list of export commodities in January-October with 655.6 million USD; followed by ferroalloys –377.9 million USD; cars –373.3 million USD; wine or fresh grapes –189.1 million USD; spirits –121.99 million USD; mineral waters –118.4 million USD; nuts –90 million USD; medicine –79.6 million USD; nitrogen fertilisers –76.4 million USD; t-shirts –54.1 million USD; other commodities –1.26 billion USD.

The top import commodities are as follows, cars in first with 706.7 million USD, followed by petroleum oils (651.9 million USD), copper ores and concentrates (564.8 million USD), medicines (298.7 million USD), petroleum gases (235.8 million USD), telephone sets (173.6 million USD), automatic data processing machines (123.9 million USD), vaccines, blood, and immune products (100.3 million USD), vehicles for the transportation of goods (91.7 million USD), wheat and meslin (78.65 million USD).
