Grigoryan Confirms Armenia’s Readiness to Dissolve OSCE Minsk Group Upon Peace Treaty Signing

On May 29, Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of Armenia’s Security Council, stated in a conversation with journalists that Armenia is conducting consultations with Azerbaijan through diplomatic channels to sign a peace agreement, with the treaty text finalized and awaiting signing.
He added that Armenia is prepared to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group on the day the peace agreement is signed. Grigoryan emphasized that while progress has been made in building peace, not all issues have been resolved, and the full peace agenda has yet to be implemented. He also reaffirmed Armenia’s known position on the Armenian Constitution.
Regarding border incidents, Grigoryan said Armenia continues to propose joint mechanisms with Azerbaijan to investigate such occurrences. He recalled the Armenian Prime Minister’s statement that there would be no war and that Armenia is committed to peace in the region.
On differing assessments of recent events, Grigoryan noted that the US and Armenia have their own views, which may not align, but emphasized Armenia’s ongoing cooperation with Azerbaijan to address the issues.
Concerning border delimitation, Grigoryan reported that the process is active, with working groups at the deputy prime minister level maintaining contact. So far, 12.7 kilometers of the border have been delimited, with border troops deployed and only one incident recorded in these zones over the past five years. He explained that delimitation will continue from the area just below the intersection point of the Armenia-Georgia-Azerbaijan borders, aiming to stabilize and secure additional border sections.
