| News, Politics, Georgia

On March 11, Nika Gvaramia, the founder of the opposition-leaning Mtavari Arkhi TV, and Nika Melia, the former Chair of the United National Movement, jointly announced the formation of a new political alliance named "Ahali," meaning "new" in Georgian.

The political alliance's official presentation took place at the Sheratoni Hotel in Tbilisi. During their speeches, Gvaramia and Melia stressed the significance of embracing future changes.

Gvaramia emphasized the novelty of their party, stating, "Our party is new. We are fighting with new means for changes in Georgia. Straight to the future, no past, [we are] only talking about the future." He clarified that they are not urging individuals to join but rather to unite.

Melia echoed similar sentiments, stating, "Our fight, our belief in victory has a concrete name from now on, and that name is Ahali ["new"] full focus on the future…we are not evaluating the past, we are interested in the future achievements."

The co-founders announced that they will serve as co-chairs of the party and revealed that the presentation of the party’s political congress will take place next month. This alliance will participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections and be represented by number 4 on the electoral list.
