Before a meeting of the Government Administration on August 29, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili did not completely rule out the possibility that attempts at diversion by "destructive inner forces" are to blame for the recent wildfires that have broken out in several locations across the country.

"Nothing can be ruled out since we are aware of the negative forces and their subversive inclinations. Therefore, the probe must consider all potential outcomes and provide a thorough response," the Prime Minister of Georgia said. The Prime Minister mentioned that while the simultaneous occurrence of the fires in many locations raises concerns, Vakhtang Gomelauri's agency [the Ministry of Internal Affairs] managed this issue quite efficiently. Garibashvili urged people to exercise a little bit more caution and responsibility.

He also expressed gratitude to the Turkish government and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for their assistance in putting out the fire.The PM said that President Erdoğan promptly gave the order and, in only one hour, three planes were dispatched.

According to Prime Minister Garibashvili, even though all current aircraft are in very fine shape, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is planning to buy three new helicopters. The Prime Minister emphasised that the nation had one pricey luxury helicopter, which was purportedly acquired for former President Mikheil Saakashvili during the previous administration. "We decided that nobody would use this helicopter," he emphasized.
