Iran's ambassador to Yerevan: "Tehran reaffirms stance on inviolability of Armenia's borders"

Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, Iran's ambassador to Yerevan, underlined his country's position on the inviolability of Armenia's internationally recognised boundaries and asked other nations to respect its sovereignty.

"We do not accept assertions about corridors surrounding communication routes; we believe Armenia should maintain its territorial integrity," Zohouri remarked during a conversation regarding the Islamic Republic's Consulate in the region of Syunik, which is expected to open soon.

Despite their deep cultural links, the ambassador emphasised that the two nations' economic relations are not at the intended high level, and that efforts should be made to increase the relations.

Iranian government officials announced the opening of a museum of Armenians in Tabriz. 

Ahmad Hamzazadeh, head of the East Azerbaijan region's Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department, said that the opening of the museum was a joint plan of the organisation and the Archbishop of Armenians in East Azerbaijan region.

Armenian Bishop Grigor Chiftchiyan said that one of the main goals of the above-mentioned Iranian government is to protect Armenian monuments. He added that many Armenian monuments have been repaired by this department in East Azerbaijan so far.

Iranian MP: “There is a favourable ground for the development of relations between Iran and Armenia”

According to the Iranian Parliament, Armenian Ambassador to Tehran Arsen Avakyan met with member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Shahbaz Hasanpur Biglari. Touching upon the historical relations between the two peoples, the MP said: "the longevity of stable relations between Armenia and Iran, two historical neighbours, has a long history." He further claimed that relations between Iran and Armenia have always been based on necessity and special mutual relations, and that global processes have not harmed the development of relations between the two countries.

According to the Armenian ambassador, Armenia has good prospects for the Kerman region, and increasing economic and trade ties between the two countries will pave the way for expanding these relations.
