Iranian President Pezeshkian Meets Azerbaijani Deputy PM Mustafayev to Discuss Bilateral Relations
On October 14, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian received Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev for discussions on strengthening bilateral relations. Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of the historical and cultural ties between the two nations, underlining the need to further develop cooperation. He praised the progress made in establishing railways and highways connecting the countries and expressed a desire to expand collaboration in sectors such as energy and agriculture. Pezeshkian also called for the acceleration of existing agreements between the two countries.
In response, Deputy Prime Minister Mustafayev reaffirmed Azerbaijan's readiness to strengthen relations with Iran, emphasizing cooperation in areas such as the economy, trade, energy, culture, transit, and the completion of joint road and railway projects. Mustafayev also mentioned the importance of security and defense collaboration. He expressed hope that President Pezeshkian would attend the COP29 conference, which is scheduled to take place in Baku next month.
Additionally, President Pezeshkian assured Mustafayev that he would personally oversee the legal process concerning the individual involved in the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran.
