Jens Stoltenberg on Partnership with Georgia
Ahead of the meetings of NATO Defence Ministers, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated that the issue of strengthening the Alliance's practical support to Georgia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Moldova would be discussed. "Ministers will also address how to step up our practical support for Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia, and Moldova. Three valued NATO partners, which face Russian threats," Stoltenberg stated.
He stated, "It is important to support partners vulnerable to Russian interventions. Therefore, Allies have agreed to step up our partnership, stay in partnership with partners like, for instance, Georgia."
He says tailored partnerships and support are part of what NATO is doing with similar partners. "I think that one of the lessons we have learned already from the war in Ukraine is the importance of providing support to partners sooner than later, as it was important to support Ukraine before the invasion, it is also important to support other partners, which are vulnerable for Russian interventions," the official added.
"And therefore, Allies have agreed to step up our partnership, stay in partnership with partners like Georgia, and we are now working on how to step up support related to cyber, crisis management, and secure communication. So yes, tailored partnership, tailored support is part of what we do with partners like Georgia," Stoltenberg said.
