Jeyhun Bayramov Discusses Bilateral Ties with Iranian Counterpart in Jeddah

On October 18, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Huseyn Amir-Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, within the framework of his participation in the extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held at the ministerial level, the Press Office of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.

During the meeting, issues on the current cooperation agenda between the two countries, issues of multilateral, and regional cooperation, as well as the current situation in the region were discussed. Recently, the importance of increasing bilateral contacts between the two countries and the meetings held within the framework of the bilateral economic commission has been noted. These contacts were said to be important for solving some issues between the two countries.

"Minister Jeyhun Bayramov gave detailed information about the current situation in the region during the post-conflict period, the prospects of the agenda of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as the works carried out in the region after the anti-terrorist measures taken in the Karabakh region," the report said.

Minister Bayramov, speaking about the opportunities created in the direction of advancing the peace agenda, especially in the direction of the development and expansion of transport and communications in the region, noted the importance of new communication links between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, passing through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran and between the East Zangezur economic region of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan. It was pointed out that Azerbaijan is determined to establish peace and security in the region and promote regional cooperation.
