
Kazakhstan Boosts Grain Exports to Azerbaijan Amid Regional Trade Growth

On January 13, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC reported that Kazakhstan supplied 101,000 tons of grain to Azerbaijan in December 2024.
December 2024 marked a record month for new crop grain transportation, with volumes increasing by 63% compared to December 2023, reaching 1.4 million tons. Domestic transportation rose by 23%, while exports grew by 78%, totaling 1.1 million tons. Grain supplies to Central Asian countries saw significant growth: Uzbekistan by 47%, Tajikistan by 58%, Kyrgyzstan by 14%, and Turkmenistan by 5%. Grain exports to Azerbaijan resumed, totaling 101,000 tons.
Exports to China increased by 6%, and shipments to Afghanistan rose by 35%. Transportation through the Black Sea ports grew threefold, while volumes to the Baltic countries quadrupled.
From September to December 2024, over 5 million tons of new crop grain were transported, 50% more than during the same period in 2023. Domestic transportation reached over 1 million tons, a 27% increase, while grain exports accounted for 57% of the total volume, about 4 million tons. Exports to Central Asia grew by 38%, with Kyrgyzstan seeing a 19% increase, Uzbekistan 45%, and Tajikistan 57%.
Shipments to China rose by 2%, and Afghanistan's imports increased by 51%. Grain transportation through the port of Aktau to Iran increased thirtyfold, while shipments through the Black Sea ports rose by 39%, and deliveries to the Baltic countries doubled.
