Kobakhidze Highlights Georgian Economic Achievements and Future Plans
During a conference organized by Georgia's Business Association on March 1, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized the pivotal role of business in driving economic development, highlighting Georgia's sustained economic progress over the past four years.
Acknowledging the significance of government-business collaboration, Kobakhidze underscored the importance of economic development in achieving national objectives such as poverty alleviation and societal unity.
Kobakhidze outlined Georgia's remarkable economic achievements, citing consecutive years of rapid growth and positive projections for the future. He underscored key indicators such as double-digit economic growth, controlled external debt, low inflation rates, and increased employment opportunities. Moreover, he noted the country's thriving tourism sector and its expanded free trade agreements with 45 countries, demonstrating Georgia's commitment to liberal economic policies.
Reflecting on past challenges under previous administrations, Kobakhidze highlighted the transformation in Georgia's business environment since 2012, attributing the shift to enhanced business freedoms and government support. Kobakhidze stressed the need for improved public services and continued efforts to combat corruption, underscoring Georgia's ambition to become a leader in anti-corruption measures. He emphasized the importance of human resource development and educational reforms to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving economy.
Kobakhidze outlined plans for a new four-year economic strategy aimed at bolstering Georgia's trade and transit infrastructure, supporting manufacturing and export growth, and strengthening the education system.
