Kobakhidze Highlights Georgia's Economic Success, Announces Housing for Military
At the Executive Government Meeting on August 26, Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgia, highlighted the country's outstanding economic growth, noting that Georgia ranks first in economic growth indicators not only within the region but also among European countries.
Kobakhidze referred to recent data published by the National Statistics Office (GeoStat), which revealed that unemployment in Georgia has reached a historic low of 13.7 percent in the second quarter, a significant decrease from 16.7 percent in the same period last year. He emphasized that this reduction in unemployment, along with the creation of 60,000 new jobs over the past year, is a direct result of high economic growth.
Additionally, Kobakhidze announced a government decision to provide apartments to over 1,000 military personnel in newly constructed residential blocks. Funds for this project will be allocated in the State Budget for the coming year. He expressed the government's commitment to supporting the Georgian military, stating that caring for the army and valuing military personnel is a special priority.
