Medvedev Calls for Boost in Military Recruitment Efforts in North Caucasus

On February 19, Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council, expressed gratitude to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov for the Chechen Republic's significant contributions to the special military operation [Russian war in Ukraine] during his visit to Gudermes. Speaking to volunteers of the Russian University of Special Forces, Medvedev acknowledged the efforts of the Chechen leadership, particularly Ramzan Kadyrov, in supporting the operation.

During his visit to the Russian Special Forces University, accompanied by Kadyrov and Yuri Chaika, the Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District, Medvedev praised the training facilities and professionalism of the volunteers. He noted the impressive conditions and professionalism observed during his visit.

Medvedev engaged with volunteers, including one from Bashkortostan, who shared his commitment to a second contract for participating in special operations and expressed satisfaction with his training at the Russian University of Special Forces.

In response, Medvedev commended the volunteers for their courage and dedication to defending their homeland, encouraging them to take care of themselves and return safely. The interaction highlighted the commitment of volunteers and the support they receive in their training efforts.

Medvedev also commended Adam Kadyrov, the chief of Chechnya's security service and son of Ramzan Kadyrov, for his “exceptional shooting skills.”

In a meeting with the heads of the North Caucasian Federal District regions in Grozny, Medvedev emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of contract recruitment. He highlighted that while the national recruitment plan had seen over 54 thousand people enlisted for military service in January, only the Chechen [Federal] Republic had fulfilled its recruitment plan within the North Caucasian Federal District.

Medvedev urged regional leaders to assess the situation and consider additional measures to improve recruitment rates in the district. He emphasized the importance of ensuring positive developments in recruitment across all regions, urging proactive measures to meet recruitment targets effectively.
