
Mirzoyan Holds Key Meetings at Yerevan Dialogue Forum to Advance Cooperation with EU, Montenegro, Hungary, Qatar, and Iran

On May 26-27, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan of Armenia held a series of meetings with high-level officials from the European External Action Service, Montenegro, Hungary, Qatar, and Iran during the "Yerevan Dialogue" international forum to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation, regional security, and peace efforts in the South Caucasus.
On May 26, Mirzoyan and Belén Martínez Carbonell, Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), focused on the Armenia-EU New Partnership Agenda, highlighting it as a significant milestone for expanding comprehensive cooperation. They discussed concrete mechanisms for effective implementation, reflecting the political will of both parties to strengthen their partnership. Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of reinforcing like-minded partnerships based on shared democratic values and the need for timely decisions in response to current geopolitical challenges.
On May 27, Mirzoyan met with Filip Ivanović, Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs of Montenegro, within the framework of the forum. Mirzoyan thanked Ivanović for participating in the "Yerevan Dialogue" and noted that the active exchange of visits demonstrates strong political dialogue and mutual commitment to expanding cooperation. Building on their March meeting in Yerevan, they reviewed initiatives to develop sectoral cooperation, particularly in tourism, and identified high technologies, information technologies, healthcare, and the economy as promising areas for growth. They also exchanged views on cooperation with the European Union, engagement in the European Political Community, and regional peace efforts, with Mirzoyan stressing the importance of signing a Peace Treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Later the same day, Mirzoyan held a meeting with Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, starting with a tête-à-tête discussion followed by an extended delegation meeting. Both ministers expressed satisfaction with recent progress in bilateral relations and hoped that opening diplomatic representations in their capitals would further advance cooperation. They discussed various initiatives, including sectoral agreements and Hungary’s program to host children forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh and their accompanying persons. The meeting also covered Armenia-EU cooperation priorities and joint steps to deepen the partnership. Mirzoyan underscored ongoing efforts to establish peace in the South Caucasus, including the Peace Treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
On May 27, Mirzoyan met with Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, State Minister of Qatar, to discuss expanding Armenia-Qatar political dialogue. They emphasized leveraging momentum from recent high-level visits to develop cooperation in specific sectors and explored opportunities to promote investments. The meeting included exchanges on security issues in the South Caucasus and the Middle East, with particular attention to the situation in Gaza. Mirzoyan presented Armenia’s efforts toward peace in the region, particularly regarding the signing of the agreement on peace and interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Also on May 27, Mirzoyan met with Saeed Khatibzadeh, Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran and Head of the Center for Political and International Studies of the MFA of Iran. They discussed bilateral agenda issues and ongoing steps toward implementing concrete projects. The two ministers touched upon cooperation between the "Yerevan Dialogue" and "Tehran Dialogue" international forums held in Armenia and Iran, respectively. They exchanged views on regional developments and efforts to achieve peace and stability, with both sides emphasizing the principled approach of unconditional respect for territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders.
