Nearly 3,600 Foreigners Become Armenian Residents in First Half of 2025
A total of 3,590 foreign nationals obtained residency status in Armenia during the first six months of 2025, according to figures released by the Statistical Committee. Of these, 1,815 individuals were granted temporary residency and 1,775 received permanent residency.
Temporary residency was primarily issued on the basis of education (769 cases), family reunification (638), entrepreneurship (398), and, in a few instances, Armenian ethnicity (10). The largest share of temporary residents were citizens of Russia (474), followed by India (466) and Iran (293).
Permanent residency was granted mostly to individuals of Armenian descent, accounting for 1,315 of the cases. Additionally, 251 people obtained permanent status through entrepreneurship, and 209 qualified after residing in Armenia for at least three years. Russians made up the majority of permanent residents with 970 individuals, while 143 were Georgian citizens, 117 Syrian nationals, 113 Ukrainian nationals, and 48 Lebanese nationals.
