North Caucasus at the bottom of Russian salary ranking
The North Caucasian federal republics are at the bottom of the ranking in terms of wages in Russia in 2021.
Most of the low-paid workers are in Kalmykia (85th place in the all-Russian rating). Next, from among the North Caucasian republics, there are Dagestan (83rd place), Ingushetia (82nd place), Chechnya (80th place), Kabardino-Balkaria (78th place), Karachay-Cherkessia (76th place), Adygea (70th place) ,and North Ossetia (68th place). All in all, in the Caucasian republics, more than a quarter of working citizens receive less than 175 euros a month.
The leaders in terms of the share of relatively high wages were the northern and Far Eastern regions, as well as Moscow. In Chukotka, over 46% of employees receive 1169 euros or more monthly. Second place was taken by the Yamalo-Nenets District, where RIA Novosti calls the salaries of more than 40% of residents high. In Moscow, according to researchers, 30% of workers are highly paid.
For 2020, the republics of the North Caucasus were at the end of the ranking in terms of the size of wages in small and medium-sized settlements, as well as in terms of its ratio to the cost of goods and services.
The region topped the ranking for excess mortality in 2020. In addition, all six national republics of the North Caucasus Federal District are among the regions with the highest salaries for officials.
