Moscow and Yerevan agreed to continue "constructive work within the framework of regular meetings of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia and the implementation of the agreements of the three leaders of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021 in the interests of ensuring stability , security and economic development of the region.” This is mentioned in a joint statement issued by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan after their April 19 meeting in Moscow.

The parties stressed the Russian peacekeeping contingent's essential contribution to preserving security and fostering advantageous and safe circumstances for the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. "They highlighted the necessity of utilising the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship Institute's capacity and expertise in accordance with its international mandate," the announcement added.

Putin and Pashinyan emphasised the significance of scaling up the work of the Trilateral Working Group, which is co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, to unblock all commercial links and transportation communications in the South Caucasus.

"The Russian side is willing to join in initiatives aimed at restoring Armenia's railway infrastructure, including the railway in Syunik and other parts of the country," the statement reads.

The parties agreed to expedite the creation of a bilateral commission on delimitation and security issues around the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in accordance with existing tripartite agreements dated November 26, 2021, with the Russian Federation providing advisory assistance at the parties' request.

“The parties decided to boost trilateral cooperation between Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan to promote normalisation of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as in the region as a whole," according to the statement.

The restoration of Armenian-Turkish relations was praised by Putin and Pashinyan.

The leaders of Russia and Armenia shared in a statement that they were pleased with the successful opening of the 3+3 Regional Consultative Platform, which is intended to provide more chances for encouraging conversation and diversified collaboration among all nations in the area.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin said that "today there is pressure against Russia, the war is not only economic but also political. It is aimed at continuing to maintain the hegemony of the United States and is at the heart of the situation that the whole world is facing.”

Kopirkin recalled that the creation of the EAEU almost coincided with the first anti-Russian sanctions from the West. Then there was the pandemic of Covid-19, but, despite all the problems, the countries of the Eurasian integration association continued to develop and showed the effectiveness of their economic union.

Moreover, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 9 flagged that Armenia has adopted five principles proposed by Azerbaijan for the establishment of interstate relations.
