Volgograd activist arrested again for anti-war picket
Volgograd resident Aleksei Klokov, who served seven days of administrative arrest under an article on disobedience to the police, was detained while leaving the temporary detention facility and given a new sentence - five days of arrest for holding a solitary picket on Mamaev Hill against Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Klokov's lawyer Roman Zaitsev told that the activist was charged with an article on organising an unauthorized mass event. “Earlier, Vladislav Lygin was arrested for a picket on Mamayev Kurgan. He was charged with being there with Klokov, a protocol was drawn up. We will appeal. We do not agree. It was not a mass event, but a single picket," Zaitsev explained. The lawyer clarified that one of the activists held a picket, and the second filmed it on the phone.
Alexei Klokov went out to a solo picket on Mamaev Kurgan with a poster "grandfathers fought for peace. No war. You defend war" on March 2. He was detained by the police.
While under administrative arrest, the activist conducted a video broadcast of the actions of law enforcement officers, refusing to stop it in response to the demands of the security forces. Even though the ban on video filming was established by an order for official use, the court considered the activist's actions to be disobedience to the lawful demand of the police.
