Khorasan province head: “We are ready to accept students from Armenia"

The head of South Khorasan province, Javad Ganaat, met with the Armenian ambassador to Iran.

Javad Ganaat, who spoke about the history of universities in South Khorasan province, claimed: "The universities operating here are among the best in the country and have a reputation among the world's universities."

He stressed that they are ready for a student exchange program between South Khorasan and Armenia.

Armenian Economy Minister: “Trade volume with Iran significantly increased”

Armenian Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan said that Armenia's trade with Iran exceeded $500 million in 2021. "Despite obstacles and logistical problems, trade with Iran has exceeded $ 500 million, an increase of 25% in 2021 from about $ 400 million in 2020," Kerobyan said. The Armenian minister praised the growth rate and expressed hope that trade relations with Iran would increase. Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan also recently met with the Iranian Ambassador to Yerevan Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri and stressed the importance of strengthening ties with Tehran. According to the official website of the Iranian parliament, the new Armenian Ambassador to Iran, Arsen Avagyan, met with the head of the international relations department of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Kazim Shafeyi.

Stressing the vital role of parliamentary relations in accelerating and simplifying cooperation between the two countries, Shafeyi said: "The Majlis of the Islamic Council is ready to develop and expand parliamentary cooperation and will increase bilateral trade between the two countries by more than $1 billion." "The peoples of the two countries have deep and long-standing historical, cultural, and social ties, which can pave the way for the development of cooperation in various fields, especially in the parliamentary and economic spheres," he said. He added: "The regional and international situation requires our ongoing efforts to raise the level of economic relations as two friendly countries and to increase bilateral exchanges to more than $1 billion."

Speaking about the region's problems, Shafeyi stressed the importance of lasting peace and stability in the area. "We hope that the existing differences will be resolved on the basis of mutual understanding and respect for the principles of international law," he said. Noting that the Islamic Republic of Iran supports Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, the parliamentary official said: "The two countries have always been together in difficult historical times, and this approach will always continue between the officials of the two countries."

Stating that he attaches great importance to relations with Iran, the Armenian ambassador said that Iran is not only a "friendly and brotherly" state for official Yerevan but also an important and influential country in the region.

Welcoming the development and expansion of parliamentary cooperation between Iran and Armenia, Arsen Avagyan added: "The presence of Armenian MPs in the Islamic Consultative Assembly shows the depth of relations between the parliaments of the two countries, which can play an important role in strengthening cooperation between different countries, especially in parliament and economy.” "I thank the Islamic Republic of Iran for its support of Armenia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the inadmissibility of changing the borders of neighbouring countries.
