Republican Party of Armenia Equates Anti-Russian Propaganda with Anti-Armenian

Eduard Sharmazanov, a member of the ex-ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), said that it is in the interests of Armenia to maintain allied relations with Russia. "Changing foreign policy guidelines will not lead to anything good," he said.
According to him, Armenia should actively develop relations with its allies: Russia, Iran, and China, as well as with Western countries. However, building up cooperation with one of the centers of power should not come at the expense of the other.
"Anti-Russian propaganda will not lead to anything good. Perhaps this propaganda will add dollars to someone's pockets or help someone get another grant. However, all this will be at the cost of the security of our state," the Armenian Republican said. He stressed that today's anti-Russian propaganda is tantamount to anti-Armenian since it is the Russian Federation that is the guarantor of the security of Armenia and [separatist] Nagorno-Karabakh.
"Ask yourself: who, besides Russia, provided weapons to Armenia? Has the West provided us with at least one cartridge? At least one?" Sharmazanov said. The opposition politician added that if the current authorities in Armenia fail to agree on the supply of weapons, they should give way to those who succeed. "50,000 tons of free weapons from Russia were brought to Armenia during our rule. We signed an agreement that provides an opportunity to purchase weapons from Russia at factory prices," Sharmazanov stated.
