Rubio Signs Landmark Agreements with Armenia, Hails “Courageous Path” to Peace

During his visit to Yerevan, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio praised Armenia’s leadership for pursuing what he described as a “courageous path” toward regional peace and deeper international integration. Following talks with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, both sides signed and initialed several major cooperation agreements aimed at expanding bilateral strategic, economic, and security ties.

Rubio underscored the importance of the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), calling it a historic initiative to advance regional peace, connectivity, and prosperity. The two sides also initialed a framework agreement on strategic cooperation for TRIPP, which Rubio described as the most significant step yet toward implementing the project and advancing regional integration.

The visit also yielded the Charter on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which establishes a broader framework for long-term cooperation between the two countries across political, economic, technological, security, energy, and defense sectors. Rubio stated that the charter creates a new foundation for economic partnership and prosperity for both Armenians and Americans while respecting Armenia’s sovereignty and independence.

In addition, Armenia and the US signed the Framework for Securing Supply in the Mining and Processing of Critical Minerals and Rare Earths, reflecting growing cooperation in strategic resources, industrial supply chains, and emerging technologies.

Rubio also voiced strong support for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his administration, describing Armenia as moving toward a “brighter and more independent future.” He emphasized that the US backs Armenia’s vision for peace, economic development, sovereignty, and regional stability, framing the agreements as the foundation of a long-term strategic partnership.
