Russia Considers Imposing Restrictions on Dairy Imports from Armenia
Russia’s Rosselkhoznadzor, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, will study the possibility of restricting the supply of dairy products from Armenia to Russia, the Russian news agency reported citing this Russian department’s respective report.
It is noted that according to information received from the Armenian side, the dairy processing enterprises in Armenia employ raw materials made in Iran, against which Rosselkhoznadzor has imposed restrictions.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, it was verified during inspections conducted by its experts between March 20 and 24 that Armenian producers use raw materials from Iranian enterprises which are not authorized to supply Russia.
Disclosed violations also testify to the lack of effective control by the state veterinary service over the processing of dairy products, in connection with which there is a risk of importing low-quality and harmful products into the RF," notes Rosselkhoznadzor.
The Russian agency also added that it is concerned about the cases of inclusion of enterprises of third countries in the registers of the Customs Union without the consent of the Russian side or against the official refusal of the competent services of the EAEU member countries.
In this context, it is important to mention that Russia intends to cancel international roaming with Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan by 2025, as reported by the Russian newspaper 'Vedomosti,' citing the Eurasian Economic Commission survey app, which was sent to all major mobile operators of the allied countries and the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.
According to the plan the Russian newspaper is referring to, the communication operators should first examine and begin the work on preventing fraud in their networks.
