Russian Ambassador Says Armenia–Russia Ties Entering Phase of Reassessment
A reception marking Russia Day was held in Yerevan on June 12, drawing senior Armenian officials, diplomats, and representatives of public and cultural organizations. Attendees included National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, and Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan.
In his remarks, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin described Russia Day as a reflection of the country’s long history of “heroism, dedicated work, major victories and achievements.” He noted that Armenian–Russian relations still rest on a foundation of high-level political dialogue, alongside cooperation between governments, parliaments, regional authorities, and other institutions.
“At the same time, it is evident that our relations have entered a phase of reassessment and adaptation to changing global and regional realities,” Kopyrkin said.
The ambassador reaffirmed Moscow’s readiness to pursue “joint, constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation” with Armenia through existing bilateral and multilateral mechanisms.
