During a meeting with de-facto Abkhaz President Aslan Bzhania on February 26, de-facto Foreign Minister Inal Ardzinba provided an overview of the achievements made in 2023 and outlined key developments in Abkhazia's foreign relations.

Ardzinba highlighted the importance of the signed Plan of consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for 2024-2025. This plan aims to intensify interdepartmental cooperation and foster joint projects in various sectors such as health care, education, sports, culture, and emergencies.

The Foreign Minister also emphasized that the Agreement between Abkhazia and Russia on issues of dual citizenship is nearing its final stage of entry into force, which signifies a significant milestone in bilateral relations.

In addition to relations with Russia, Abkhazia has been actively engaging with Belarus, evidenced by mutual visits of heads of state and the establishment of the Trade House "Abkhazia" in Minsk. Plans for Belarusian investment projects in Eastern Abkhazia are also underway.

Ardzinba highlighted Abkhazia's participation in BRICS events chaired by Russia, which offers new opportunities for international cooperation. The ministry also conducted productive working trips to Turkey, Northern Cyprus, and Syria, exploring trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation possibilities.

Particular attention was paid to Abkhazia's engagement with the Middle East, including working trips to Syria and efforts to establish diplomatic relations and trade partnerships with countries like Algeria, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon.

Moreover, Abkhazia continued its efforts to expand international recognition and participated actively in the Geneva discussions on security and stability in the Transcaucasus, advocating for the signing of an agreement on the non-use of force.

Bzhania commended Minister Ardzinba for his significant contributions to enhancing Abkhazia's international standing and stressed the importance of maintaining an active foreign policy agenda for the country's benefit.
