Separatist Leaders Criticize Pashinyan Over Georgia Territorial Integrity Support
Recently, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the country fully supports the territorial integrity of Georgia. "I have stated several times in my public statements that we fully and unequivocally support Georgia's unity and statehood," Pashinyan noted.
"Armenia voted against a resolution at the UN recognizing the right of all refugees and internally displaced persons to return to Abkhazia and South Ossetia and has not taken part in the vote since 2019," he added. According to Pashinyan, Armenia's voting in the UN on this issue before and after 2019 is significantly different, which Georgia's representatives are satisfied with. "And our position is that we unequivocally and fully support Georgia's unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, independence and democracy," Pashinyan said
South Ossetia
Alan Gagloev, the de-facto South Ossetian President, said that the opinion of politician Nikol Pashinyan, who "betrayed his people," has no importance.
"We respect the Armenian people, with whom we are linked by centuries-old friendly relations. But we are not interested in the opinion of the Armenian Prime Minister, who left Nagorno-Karabakh in the most difficult situation. He betrayed his own people, most of them Armenians, who were waiting for help from Armenia. Pashinyan did not have the courage to recognize Karabakh's independence. We are not interested in the opinion of such politicians," the statement reads.
Gagloev added that today, South Ossetia is an independent state recognized by the Russian Federation and several other countries, and everyone should reckon with it.
Abkhazia
Aslan Bzhania, the de-facto President of the separatist Abkhazia, said that today's leadership of Armenia under the influence of the West makes statements that contradict the path chosen by the people of Abkhazia to realize their right to develop as an independent state.
"These statements of the Armenian Prime Minister fundamentally contradict the fact of sovereignty of the Republic of Abkhazia," the President said. "In Abkhazia, the entire Armenian people are treated with respect, a part of which found its salvation from the tragic events of the past precisely in Abkhazia," the de-facto leader noted.
"Today, the Armenian community in Abkhazia is represented in the central and local authorities, the Armenian language and culture are supported by the state, and the structures of the Armenian Apostolic Church function freely. Armenians in Abkhazia have everything that Nikol Pashinyan could not guarantee to the Armenians of Karabakh, who, due to his policy, faced the tragedy of collapse of statehood and mass exodus from their native land. Moreover, the consequence of Nikol Pashinyan's policy was the violation of the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia itself," Bzhania said.
"Based on the actual state of affairs, unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democracy are the characteristics most suitable for the Republic of Abkhazia. This democratic state fully controls its entire territory, whose independence is recognized by the Russian Federation and a number of other countries," the de-facto head of state stressed.
